MEC MEC Bricole Jacket (Men's)

A waterproof-breathable outer layer, designed to meet your backcountry needs and appeal to your frontside esthetic. Set at an exceptional price point, this 2.5 layer jacket has the technical features you expect from backcountry shells – fully taped seams, helmet compatible hood, powder skirt, avalanche technology – and a less fitted, more fluid cut that looks at home off the hill. Colours, cut and attachment system are designed to coordinate with MEC Bricole and Backbeyond Pants.

So far so good

Date:September 7, 2013
I work outdoor in construction up to 80 hours a week and need a completely water proof and highly breathable jacket. I was originally going for the truant but I found the fit on that jacket to be too narrow in the waist so I went with the Bricole. The truant had all the features I need in a jacket and I'm a little disappointed it didnt fit me properly. I find the fit on the bricole to be excellent. arms arnt too long, and the waist is around the same diameter as the chest (good for those of us with guts). Its also roomy enough to wear a sweater under when needed.
Style wise I find the bricole line to be kind of ugly. I didnt really like any of the colour options but went with the blue (i need function more then style). A black option probably would probably help the line a lot IMO. The jacket is on the heavier side, but it should probably be more durable then most mec jackets for my needs. features are nice, although sealed zips would probably help with waterproofing. Would have been nice to have a mesh liner under the pit zips as well, I find the open design this has can cause the jacket to fold weird when bending and can let water in. Would also have much preferred a 2 way zipper.
The pertex shield+ is supposed to be a highly water proof and breathable material, their website claims rating of 20,000/20,000 which is perfect. I was skeptical about this fabric as I had never herd of it but a bit of research put my mind at ease. I havnt had a chance to test it at work yet, although I took a 20min shower in my new gear and was completely dry by the end.
Overall I'm more then happy with my new purchase. I'll update my review if I have any negative experience with it after more use.
Pros: Comfortable, Breathable
