Crank Brothers Crank Brothers Egg Beater 1 Pedals

Small, clipless mountain biking pedals. This version has a chromoly steel spindle and stamped steel wings, making it both strong and affordable.

Good pedals initially, not so good over time...

Date:April 24, 2012
I bought these pedals last year for my cyclocross and loved them. After breaking them in and getting used to the technique, I was very happy. However, after time I found it became easier and easier to unclip, until my cleats eventually would pull out unexpectedly. I transferred them over to my new xc mountain bike and it's getting to the point now where I can't stay in the pedal.
The pedals fall short for me in their inability to tighten the tension. I'm now forced to purchase new pedals, and I regret to say I won't be going with the egg beaters a second time.
Pros: Lightweight, Simple, Good Value
Cons: Flimsy, Unreliable

2nd egg beaters... awesome pedals

Date:February 10, 2012
I bought my first set because in the recumbent position with feet up did not work with most clip in pedals. Trying to clip in while the pedal is pointed away from you was a hit or miss thing. With the egg beaters, this is never a problem. You are always facing an opening. I found unclipping far easier than any of the pedals I used to use on my old painful wedgie. Bought the second set for my Corsa and am enjoying the same results as my Lightning. Ride low, fast and enjoy the view...
Pros: Simple, Good Value, Reliable
Cons: don't have one

I bought these for my Son to use, they are great as you can clip in to any of the four sides and he never has to worry about them being lined up.

Best Purchase... 2nd set of this pedal.

Date:June 28, 2010
I recommend the Egg Beater for everyone.
I bought a set of egg beater 1 year ago for my road bike and I bought this one for my new mountain bike two weeks ago.
You don't have to worry if your pedals are in the right position to be clipped or not... They are always ready to be clipped :-)
Mud go out easily.. I should say : mud does not keep stuck in the pedal. :-)
I said I would buy this similar kit for my mountain bike... well it's done!
Thanks
Pros: Rugged, Lightweight, Simple, Good Value, Reliable
