Excellent for the field

Date:November 5, 2011
Travelling light and compact requires compromise. There is just no way around this fact. But this ballhead is a "must-have" addition to the basic Gorillapod for any serious photographer who wishes to minimize as much as possible (backcountry backpaker, cyclist, etc).
It has a quick release, which allows you to switch easily between an SLR and a pocket camera, provided you have two (or more) release plates (available separately).
Pros: Lightweight, Simple, Reliable, Quick Release

Great addition

Date:May 23, 2011
I initially got just the Gorilla SLR tripod thinking that I didnt need the ballhead attachment. With the ballhead, you are able to position your camera in different angles much, much easier. With the quick release head, it makes it very convenient to attach/detach. I dont look at the level too much as I often use the thing that Im shooting to frame the shot more than relying on the level. Although, the odd time that I've needed it, I was glad to have it. Kinda pricy when you combine the tripod with the head but what can you do?!
Pros: Lightweight, Simple
Cons: Expensive

Almost required with the Gorillapod

Date:June 9, 2010
I owned a pervious Gorillapod that can’t use the ballhead, and I would always struggle to get my pictures horizontal. The ballheads the construction is solid, and extremely smooth movement and the level is a great feature. I am able now to shoot pictures much quicker with less readjustment than without a ballhead.
Pros: Rugged, Simple
Cons: Expensive

Useful

Date:May 21, 2010
A ballhead is a very useful item for the photographer who uses tripods. This one is designed to fit the Gorillapod SLR Zoom tripod, a small portable unit with prehensile legs. (The Gorillapod, sold separately, is perfect for slipping into a backpack and will grip onto trees, poles and the like.) Please note that this ballhead fits only the Gorillapod SLR Zoom, not any of the other Gorillapods, including the SLR model. It's a bit pricey but it's easy to attach and can support a DSLR with a good sized lens. It comes with one shoe so your camera can be easily attached and removed. Since most people buying this type of gear will have multiple cameras an extra shoe would have been nice.
Pros: Rugged, Lightweight
Cons: Expensive, fits only one model
