Perfect combo!
Date: January 17, 2010
Here you get an ideal combo for everyday use.
I bought this kit for my wife's bike and it serves its purpose well.
Light output from the front is not exceptional but the flasher does well to draw attention from cars.
The rear is more than effective to the point that I went out and bought the rear light for my own bike!
Consider the Blaze 2w front light if you really want to be seen!

The rear light is fantastic. Very bright. I feel confident that drivers see me while riding at night. One issue I have is that the rear bracket comes loose with time and requires constant tightening (otherwise the light will flop downwards).
The front light is adequate, I wish they had bundled the 1 watt light with it instead (I would willingly pay more for that 0.5w upgrade..everything thing counts out there). I had a taxi come head on with me last night on my side of the road and it was quite apparent he did not see me.
I would've rated higher however, one thing I have found is that the lights fail easily. I have had two tail lights and one headlight die on me (in half a year, not battery related). The problem seems to be in extremely wet weather (common on the left coast), the lights' on/off switch fails. Either it jams 'on', or stops working all together.
However, overall they are decent value.
Pros: Lightweight, Simple, Good Value
Cons: Flimsy, Unreliable

Buying a second one!
Date: June 3, 2009
Have had comments of how well I can be seen by cars when they are approaching from behind. Good light for poor visibility like light fog or medium rain. Getting a second light for another rider/bike. The only real problem encountered is the switch needs to be firmly press to turn on. Have dropped the unit on concrete a couple of times, no problems. Hopefully it means they have fixed the housing problem.
Pros: Great visibility, Long battery life
Cons: Switch can be tricky

Good night/low light tail light
Date: April 22, 2009
It's a great light, much better than any previous 5 led tail light.
If you commute outside of daylight hours, that's what it's good for.
It's not bright enough for daylight visibility though. The light washes out in sunlight. So for daylight commuters that appreciate daylight visibility, I highly recommend that you research for a brighter tail light.
Pros: Great Visibility at night
Cons: Difficult switch, Not daylight visible

Great light package
Date: April 6, 2009
I bought this light package and I'm really happy with it. Both lights are really bright and I was surprised to see that the front one even does a decent job of lighting the ground ahead of you (even though I don't believe it's meant to). They're really easy to take on and off too.
Pros: Great visibility, Long battery life

Better than BLT rear lights
Date: March 7, 2009
I needed to replace a BLT Micro Wazoo that did not even last one year and that's with limited use, plus one replacement battery. This light seems at least 20 times brighter and mount better on my rear rack and I like the easy to use switch the Micro Wazoo had a small hard to get at switch and with even thin winter gloves you where not going to get it to turn on.
Pros: Long battery life, Blinding visibility
Cons: Does not like the cold

Problem with cold weather
Date: December 3, 2008
I commute to work year-round in Saskatoon, where the temperature can drop to -35C, but we have not even reached that point yet and I am having trouble.
I have found that the light shuts itself off somewhere along the road when the temperature is lower than -10C.
I do not know if this is a defect with my light only or a general fault with all of these lights.
Pros: Great visibility, Long battery life

design flaw
Date: November 16, 2008
the light feels robust but i dropped this from a height of approximately 1 meter and the light literally exploded. the two halves are only joined by 3 tiny little clips, and two of these broke off. i took it back to mec and admittedly it's not a manufacturing defect but its definitely a design flaw.
Pros: Great visibility
Cons: Easily breaks

I thought it was good but...
Date: November 12, 2008
This light was nice and bright, but it fell apart easily, finally today after a couple of months, it just fell apart when i hit a pot hole, and was destroyed. :(
Just so you know I was very careful to make sure it was together properly at all times.
Pros: Long battery life, Great visibility

Do not look directly into the light.

This thing is so bright it may blind people behind you. I received positive comments from other bikers on the way home the other night so it must be good.

Great safety lights
Date: October 30, 2008
It's a pity this isn't combined with the 1 watt Blaze. It's excellent as a 'be seen' light though. I have the 1 watt blaze as my head light, and leave this one blinking at the front as a just in case. The rear light is super bright.
Pros: Great visibility, Long battery life

Mad Bright!
Date: October 27, 2008
A couple of years ago I trained through the winter on local highways. This light was a key requirement for these daytime rides. With fresh batteries the light is so bright drivers can not ignore it. This was great as as drivers do not expect to come across a cyclist riding along the highway in the dead of winter.
Pros: Great visibility, Long battery life

This Thing Is BRIGHT!
Date: October 26, 2008
I bought this light so I could commute every morning in the dark to work. It is amazingly bright, especially for it's size. Since it runs on standard AAA batteries you don't need to worry about buying expensive button cells or anything when they eventually drain!
It seems quite waterproof, as the button is actually integrated with the rest of the light and seems to be almost touch sensitive. It had me for a moment until I saw the small "press" text on the underside!
Pros: Lightweight, Small, Great visibility

Not great, get the 1watt instead.
Date: October 20, 2008
5 years ago this would have been considered a decent light, but times have changed. MEC finally has the 1watt light from Planet Bike, which for another 6 bucks is far and away the only way to fly, unless you want something really cheap, which this light isn't.
Pros: Long battery life
Cons: Expensive

Pretty good
Date: October 3, 2008
This light is very bright and uses very little power which is great.
However I didn't find it to be that durable. The light comes apart to let you add new batteries but after a while if you don't touch the light just right it will come apart. That is really bad when you are riding.
Pros: Great visibility, Helmet/Removable mount, Long battery life, Good price

SWEET LIGHT!

This light is so bright that my cycling partner can not ride behind me anymore - it gives her a headache! I've noticed cars give me more room - maybe they're also equally affected.

Great Lights Great Visibility Good Value
Date: September 4, 2008
These little rear lights are unmatched in flashing mode primarily because the innovative strobe (the .5 watt spot at the top) is just so powerful, and combined with the unique/unusual flashing pattern is extremely attention getting.
They WILL see you when you have these lights flashing! In fact I have a pair of these mounted on my extra wide (disc brake) rear rack, and I can actually tell (even during the day time) when these lights are turned on, just by the amount of extra space motorists give me when they pass. They are definitely worth the money for this reason alone.
Don't be misled by the reviews talking about wanting a better helmet mount, or a brighter or wider beam. Some how some reviews of a different (front) light have gotten mixed in.
This rear strobe light comes with both seat post and seat stay mounts and has a built in clip (for panniers, backpacks, belts etc.). The product description only talks about use “at night and in nasty weather” but it is useful at dusk or even full daylight. It is highly visible even from many blocks away and is amazingly bright and, more importantly, attention getting.
Pros: Great visibility, Helmet/Removable mount, Long battery life, Unique Strobe Pattern

Excellent light for the money
Date: August 23, 2008
This light is great for the price. It's definitely worth the extra [$] to upgrade from Planet Bike's 5 LED light to this light, as this light provides a more focused beam. I've got two of these front lights for added visibility. Excellent value
Pros: Great visibility
