Poor quality control?
Date:January 9, 2010
Maybe it’s just the luck of the draw … but of the pair, I always have a hard time getting the boot to engage with one of the bindings and on the very first outing a piece of plastic in the base just snapped off for no apparent reason (same binding). In hindsight, I wish I returned them instead of electing to make the repair. Otherwise, the bindings work fine ... but the thought of poor quality control / shoddy construction is always at the back of my mind.
Cons: Flimsy, Unreliable

Beware Salomon Classic Pilot
Date:October 17, 2009
I've owned a pair of these bindings since 2006. These were serviced and eventually replaced by my local shop in 2007. Neither pair has ever functioned correctly - a problem that is common with most people I know who have them. The rear attachment strap ices up causing it to lose it's connection to the boot. Those who use these know the familiar "click." This makes for very uncomfortable skiing. Worse, is Salomon's complete failure to address the problem or even acknowledge it's existence, not to mention that it is almost impossible to find contact information for Salomon. The bindings feel great when they work, but reliability and customer support are serious problems.

Great binding when it works
Date:February 18, 2010
These bindings are great. As long as there's no snow or ice involved. :)
The concept of the pilot system is great and it does give you an extra snap in your kick. However, if you happen to remove your skis during the ski day, there's a good chance that you may not get them back on (without some effort).
I can see these bindings being effective if you happen to be a racer who uses a waxless ski. However, if you're a recreational skier with a waxable ski, there's a good chance that you'll be rewaxing -- and there's a good chance that you'll be freezing your fingers as you try to clear the snow/ice jam in that second contact.
