Loved them until they ripped
Date: February 2, 2009
Loved the way they felt and fit when I first got them, but both the bottoms and short sleeve top tore in only 5 wears. Definitly not the quality I expect of MEC products.
Pros: Moisture Wicking, Lightweight
Cons: Fabric Pills, Wears Out Quickly

Very comfortable, but run small
Date: December 13, 2008
Although they are made of wool, they are not itchy. The texture of the fabric is not soft like cotton or other fabrics though, but are still comfortable. I did find that they run a size smaller though. Normally, I wear a size four, and I'm in an A cup bra, but I found the smalls to be a bit snug in the pants, and snug in the chest area. Also, they are machine washable, but have a 5% shrinkage afterwards. For those women who would consider themselves in a category other than boyish figure, get a size up than what the sizing chart suggests.
Pros: Comfortable, Breathable, Lightweight, Dries Quickly, Moisture Wicking
Cons: runs small

Very comfortable
Date: December 8, 2008
I've had these since Winter 2007/2008 and wore then all the time throughout the cold months and never had a problem. I also have a pair that I wear under my running pants during the winter and find they wick away sweat and keep me warm.
Pros: Lightweight, Breathable, Soft, Warm, Comfortable, Moisture Wicking

No tears despite daily use
Date: December 2, 2008
These longjohns are smooth, warm, and do not pill. I have two pairs in black. There are thin spots in the fabric, which are visible against skin. But they haven't torn, and I've worn them daily as tights since buying them two months ago (in Oct 2008).
Pros: Comfortable, Dries Quickly, Lightweight, Warm, Breathable

Mine ripped, too
Date: October 19, 2008
I was super excited about these as they seemed warm and were thin enough to wear and not feel bulky. But, I had these for less than a month and barely wore them (as it's not cold yet) and they ripped. I've come to rely on good quality from MEC as it's not like I can walk back into the store to return items. Now I get to do the mail thing and wait.
Pros: Breathable, Lightweight
Cons: Wears Out Quickly, Rips easily

I ripped mine, too
Date: September 28, 2008
I love merino wool, and wear merino long johns all winter long. These are light enough to wear under a suit at work and I found they fit nicely. However, I had the same experience as a previous poster. I ripped a hole in my almost-brand-new long johns while putting them on, and I don't have long nails, either. So disappointing, because they were lovely to wear.
Pros: Warm, Lightweight, Breathable
Cons: Wears Out Quickly

Fantastic but EASILY ripped!
Date: April 30, 2008
These are great thermals for all conditions and outdoor sports! Unfortunately, the fabric weave (small holes, for extra breathing) makes them incredibly easy to tear. I only wore and washed them once before I ripped a huge hole in the leg when putting them on (and they weren't even tight and my nails aren't long). The merino thermals MEC had last year were far better in terms of quality and durability. I would recommend not buying these until MEC comes out with a new merino fabric/weave.
Pros: Breathable
Cons: Rips easily

Excellent

One of the best articles of outdoor clothing I own. They are surprisingly stretchy, flexible and soft under even jeans...versatile too. I've used them as a base layer in the wettest pacific coast weather, as tights in snowy kootenay winters, and as pants during cool spring hikes.
The natural wool is always warm, but definitely breathes, and I hardly notice it is there...after I purchased these, my synthetics remain in the back of my closet. May they rest in peace.
Pros: Warm, Lightweight, Durable, Breathable

Warmer than synthetic
Date: February 29, 2008
These tights are warmer than my synthetic ones of the same weight. And, they fit. Many pieces of clothing for the lower body do not fit my proportions and these ones fit nicely.
Pros: Warm, Lightweight, Durable, Breathable
