Great shorts.
Date: December 3, 2009
I purchased the Rapide shorts to replace my Sugoi shorts. I tried the RS short (more than twice the cost) which was not as comfortable as the Rapide. Very comfortable for 20 - 30 km rides. The final verdict will be next spring with much longer rides.
Pros: Good Value, Comfortable

25 years ago, the last thing I ever thought I would own would be cycling shorts. I have since come back to the sport in my late 40's and it did not take me long to change my mind. The extra few dollars to get the extra padding compared to the other mec brand shorts is well worth it. These are my first cycling shorts but I did shop around and found the bang for the buck is unmatched with these shorts. The only downside was waiting a few weeks for new stock to show up.
Pros: Lightweight, Good Value, Comfortable

Excellent...... but.....
Date: November 3, 2009
The Rapide shorts are excellent in value, quality, etc.
They have one minor flaw. The lower elastic (just above the knee) is excessively tight. And I'm not a tree trunk quad kind of guy. I'm a skinny legged white man with hairy legs. This doesn't seem to be a big problem but it does seem excessively tight. The sizing is a bit on the small side. I bought a pair of (L)arge and they're snugger than most comparable (L) items. Maybe I'm just getting old and fat.
Other than that one thing they are "tres excellente".
Pros: Lightweight, Simple, Good Value

Great Shorts
Date: November 1, 2009
I bought these for commuting in. 20Km each way so I'm wearing them twice a day, 2 hours in total. They dry completely when left on a hanger at work or home for use the next day.
I'll be getting 1 or 2 more of these.
I thought they'd ride up and likely "roll over" when I bent over but didn't find any ride up and as long as I pulled them up well before starting didn't get the "roll over" either. But that may be because I have tights on over top these days.
Pros: Simple, Good Value

Fits great, sticks to bike seat
Date: October 6, 2009
These shorts fit very well. The chamois fits particularly well rather than drooping like a diaper. These shorts fit me better than the Evolution shorts from MEC and the chamois conformed better than the chamois in the Descente shorts from MEC. You really need to try a variety of shorts to see which ones fit you best. I find the waist to be quite tight and uncomfortable after a couple of days of riding. Also, when these shorts get wet (from rain or sweat), they stick to the bike seat and then tend to move on your body and you have to adjust them often. The Sugoi RS bib shorts do not stick to the bike seat, are slightly better fitting, and are far, far superior in breathability, but they are more than twice as expensive.
Pros: Comfortable, Great Fit, Dries Quickly, Good Padding

Excellent bang for the buck
Date: July 30, 2009
Love the durable constsruction, thick padding. Only complaint (and it's a minor one) is they had a tendency to roll down if you have a belly.
Pros: Rugged, Lightweight, Simple, Good Value, Reliable
Cons: waist rolls down

Good for the long haul
Date: July 30, 2009
I just completed two decent rides in a couple of weeks with these shorts. They are replacing my 18 year old Pearl Izumis so its not that terribly fair of a comparison.
The ride to conquer cancer and the Tour de Alberta and no chaffing, butts not sore.
That's all I can ask for.
They hold tight around the legs, maybe a little excessive. They will creep but I stop at least every 50 kms and just hike em up.
Pros: Good Value

Plush Shorts!
Date: July 18, 2009
I picked this pair of shorts the day before a triathlon race. I didn't get a chance to break them in. I just threw them on under my wetsuit and also ran in them too.
the shorts dried fast considering the sponge is quick thick on these shorts.
it was a 40KM race and I felt great. It felt like sitting on a Cadillac seat!
In this price range their isn't a better choice. pick these up!
Pros: Simple, Good Value, Reliable, Comfortable, saves 'the boys'

Buy 2 more this year
Date: June 5, 2009
I had 2 Cyclo short but needed one more so I bought 1 Rapide last year. 3 shorts were enough but did not want to wear Cyclo any more since I bought the Rapide. So just bought 2 more to replace Cyclo. Realized that MEC does not carry Cyclo any more. Very comfortable. I have one long cyling pants (expensive high brand product). Rapide is better. Don't waste your money to buy any expensive brand product. Would not be easy to find any better one. I wash it everyday in handwash cycle w/o any detergent in cold water. Still looks new.
Pros: Good Padding, Great Fit, Dries Quickly, Comfortable

Wonderful
Date: June 4, 2009
Lovely cycling shorts for commuting, or hard days in the Rockies. They fit, breathe, and are very comfy. Becides, you can't argue with the price. They are also very nice for rowing, especially for long bouts on the trainer or the lake.
Don't read anymore reviews... Just get them :-)
Pros: Dries Quickly, Great Fit, Comfortable, Breathable, Good Padding
Cons: A little slippy

I own four pairs of these shorts and usually buy one new pair per year to keep my stock up. I rode 7,000 KM last year and no complaints at all. Great price

The Best Cycling Shorts I've Ever Bought
Date: April 13, 2009
Just finished my first metric century of the season. The fact that my butt was not sore at all was due to these shorts, and that spurred me on to get to 100 km today. What a fantastic product!

As a Clydesdale (larger cyclist) it is hard to find shorts that work. These are ok, if the legs were a bit bigger around that would be great.

I buy these shorts again and again
Date: March 6, 2009
These are the shorts that fit like a glove with a chamois that dosen't feel like a diaper. After 3 to 4 hours on a hot day the fit feels the same as when I started my ride. That can make a big difference when the trail is all uphill on the way back to the trailhead or the car.
Pros: Fit, Good Padding

Smart buy

Good padding with moderate support. Leg design is for medium to large legs. Elastic cuff on legs tends to roll up occasionally and could be tighter. An excellent buy for a decent performing short.
Pros: Durable, Good Padding, Comfortable

great shorts, great price
Date: September 21, 2008
These things were true to themselves. They lasted a whole 4 month bike trip, almost no wear, and did what they were supposed to do. The crotch held out, but I think they could have almost added a bit more padding. The rubber lining along the legs helped from them riding up.
Pros: Dries Quickly, Good Padding, Durable, Breathable
