Member Reviews for Redtail Redtail Bentshaft Canoe Paddle

Redtail Redtail Bentshaft Canoe Paddle

A superb entry-level bent shaft paddle with Redtail’s Ergo handle for a more relaxed grip. The poplar and black cherry construction makes it lightweight and affordable. The eight-inch wide blade allows powerful strokes.

The warmpth of real woodden Paddles

Date:July 3, 2010
Far superior to aluminum.
Big blade face and 30* bend makes for increased power.
Easy to use, Light, can take a hit in white water and does not take on the cold of the water like aluminum paddles. It is worth the extra twenty bucks
Pros: Rugged, Lightweight, Simple, Good Value, Reliable
Cons: slightly more the other models

OK for the price

Date:April 18, 2009
I sold the redtail because I prefer the way the grey owls "grip" the water. The redtail just didn't feel as planted, took a bit of precision to avoid flutter, and wasn't as smooth. It was pretty good, but if price isn't a big issue, many paddles are better, and the grey owl touring is a good bit more durable too.
Oddly, I prefer redtails traditional blades to grey owls!
Pros: inexpensive, Well balanced, Light
Cons: No camber

Great Value!

Date:August 21, 2008
This has to be the best value in the world for a high quality paddle. I was going to build my own but for this price it was not worth the effort and cost of material. I have used a carbon fiber "Black Bart" so I know what the high priced ones are like. Just wish I could find one with shorter shaft for my 5' bow babe!
Pros: Comfortable Shaft, Good Control, Lightweight

Excellent paddle, great value!

Date:June 9, 2008
I was thinking of spending a lot more on Carbon-fibre paddles, but for the price, this is a much better purchase. Picked up 2 of these and used them for 2 long days. The bent shaft definitley gives more power, and was no problem for me in the stern. Big lakes, rivers and fast-water, they performed perfectly.
Pros: Good Control, Comfortable Shaft, Minimizes Fatigue, inexpensive, Tough, Lite weight
Cons: NONE
