Button gets stuck
Date: October 25, 2009
It does the job as a turle light, but sometimes the button gets wedged into the housing and is hard to release.
Pros: Simple, Good Value

Unbeatable value
Date: August 10, 2009
An incredible bargain, especially compared against $25 for a similar light manufactured with a different amphibian's name. I keep mine on a carabiner with my keys, and a 2-led white light attached to my helmet. Now I'm never without lights in case I get caught out late on my bike. Also excellent for camping--I just hang my 'biner on one of my tent's internal loops, and have light enough to see without blasting my eyes as a full-on flashlight would.
Pros: Lightweight, Simple, Good Value, Reliable

Easy to use, cheap
Date: May 29, 2009
I love these things so far. My favourite thing is that they COME WITH BATTERIES. Also, the ease of installation is fantastic. I buggered up the install of a different rear light previously.
Awesome product for an awesome price.
Pros: Long battery life, Great visibility

Sexy Lights
Date: April 23, 2009
I love them as rear lights for my bike, I attached one to the back of my helmet.
I have one in case of emergency for my camping trips, it is always in my backpack, but it turn out to be nice as ambient light in my tent, very sexy :)
Pros: Sexy, Long battery life, Great visibility

Great safety device for kids of all ages
Date: September 24, 2008
Combined with the clear unit on the front, these set on flashing mode give me a peace of mind when riding in low light to dark conditions. A very useful device as fall sets in and cycling time is at a premium.
Pros: Long battery life, Great visibility

Cheap, and that's about it
Date: August 8, 2008
I don't like them. Their weak and hard-to-direct beam may be better than nothing at all, but probably gives more of a false sense of security than a better stronger light. This light (secured away from the wheel on my back rack) literally exploded to bits when I did nothing more than roll over a small crack in the ashphalt. I never found the 2nd battery; anyway i'd be afraid the light would break again.
Pros: Versatility, Long battery life
Cons: Breakability, Weak beam

Great All-Around Lights
Date: April 18, 2008
These lights are great - I use them for everything from a small tent light to tracking my dogs at night to a personal "tag" when spelunking with friends. Some complain the replacement batteries are expensive - [...] Come on.As for waterproof - my dogs are short (Beagles), these lights will hang down in the snow and water (they love both) and I have never had issues with them. I had one that didn't work from day one, no issues exchanging it.The only thing I can think to improve the crimp on the elastic band - I have had a couple that pulled out of hte crimp. I ended up replacing the elastic with small nylon cord. I recommend these to all of my friends.
Pros: Great visibility, Long battery life
Cons: NONE

Awesome Light
Date: April 17, 2008
Just because a light is marked for use with cycles, doesn't meen it has to be. I've owned a copy of this light for over a year now and find it an awesome light. The light is a great addition to the zipper of any medical bag, pulling double duty both as an illuminator for inside the bag, the light also assists fellow rescuers in finding both you and your bag and informing civilians that you are there and provides general safety. The light is great, you just have to decide how YOU want to use it.
Pros: Great visibility, Medical Lighting
Cons: Short battery life

Great until the batteries die...
Date: December 19, 2007
Good little light up until the point where the "replaceable" batteries need just that done. The whole light at [$] is a deal. New batteries at $5-9 per pair are not. New batteries at $1-2 a pair would seem better than having to throw out the whole still working light. MEC might want to consider having them availble in the store - hard to believe they couldn't beat the price of a new light. Throwing out perfect good stuff is not so green.
Pros: Good for walkers, inexpensive
Cons: Short battery life
Response from Mountain Equipment Co-op:By Product SpecialistWebDecember 22, 2007
Please be aware that the statement of battery cost is true only for aftermarket high end flat batteries from major brands. We sell the generic version of this replacement battery at only a small fraction of the cost under product number 4002-404.

BUY THE WATERPROOF VERSION!
Date: November 9, 2007
BUY WATERPROOF! I had no idea these lights would die as soon as it rained - you'll waste your money if it gets wet. The waterproof version is just a little bit more costly - do yourself a favour - spend the money there and buy bulk! Don't be shy - use them everywhere if you're riding out at night.
Pros: Great visibility, Long battery life

Good for Emergencies, Not Durable Enough
Date: November 4, 2007
These are quite bright and a great emergency light when you find yourself riding later than expected. I tried using one everyday, but the elastic broke quite quickly (my front light is still holding up, perhaps because my handle bars are smaller than my seat post?). Without the elastic these are kind of too large to be a keychain.
Pros: Great visibility, Helmet/Removable mount
Cons: Fragile

good, lightweight rear bike light
Date: September 6, 2007
i might have bought 10 of these things & often give them to kids of friends. these lights are so easy to carry with you in a backpack pocket & then just loop them onto the bike if you find yourself riding in the dark. the flashing mode is very visible from afar.
of the 10 i bought, one was a dud.
Pros: Long battery life, Easy to carry with you at, Lightweight, Great visibility
Cons: Battery life inconsistent

Great little light
Date: August 11, 2007
I bought a bunch of these so the kids have no excuse for riding home in the dark. I also keep some in the car, panniers and back packpacks. Great little lights.

Cute little thing
Date: June 15, 2007
I had this attached to my backpack for about a month. I used it at a concert to read the program in the dark, which worked out great for me. Apparently it's quite visible because my daughter saw me from the stage.
The light came to a sad end one night when I went out for a walk. When I went to turn it on, I discovered the battery back had fallen off and the battery had fallen out. Next time, I'm going to nail polish the back on.
Pros: Cute AND inexpensive
Cons: Falls Apart

Great value

I use one on my dog when we run or ride at night and it works great. Also as they are so cheap I don't mind when he accidently bashes it. Very sturdy in general.

Beware that elastic band
Date: May 13, 2007
While attempting to secure this thing to my seatpost I accidently launched the thing through the air until it fell under a parked car where the impact caused it to break in half. I tried to recover the pieces but I think half of it fell into the sewer. My friend, who saw this, thought it was hilarious. That rubber band thing is way, way too tight.
Pros: inexpensive, Great visibility, Long battery life
Cons: Doesn't mount well

Good little light
Date: May 7, 2007
Great little light that attaches almost anywhere on your bike, or on your backpack and clothes. I used to put one on my gloves so cars could see me signalling at night. Good supplementary light.
Pros: Long battery life, Great visibility, Versatile
