Good product but bottles leak.
Date: June 19, 2009
Excellent product - have used it globally with some very suspect water sources, but never got ill due to bad water. Consider this product to treat water that has been well filtered (ie Katadyne). However, the 60 ml bottles are not suitable for travel - like others, I routinely find leaks and have resorted to putting them in proper bottles that seal well. The dropper bottles (smaller version) don't leak.
Pros: Simple, Good Value, Reliable
Cons: leaky 60 ml bottles

Don't tip them over!!

While I really like using the Pristine drops, I would not buy them in the 60ml size again. I bought them to refill my small Pristine containers with the droppers. However, the larger bottles leaked continuously over the course of my 4-week hiking trip. I probably lost about 2/3 of the drops, and my pack and its contents smelled like chlorine. Either transfer the drops into other bottles, or shell out the money for multiples of the small containers. I still prefer Pristine drops to any tablets I have tried out, but others may want to consider leaving liquids at home.
Pros: Water tastes fine
Cons: Bottles leak

Bottles leak, even when new
Date: January 30, 2009
We bought two kits. Three of the four bottles arrived with the factory seal already leaking - the aluminium foil was half-dissolved, presumably by the acid and ClO2 in the fluid. In the bottles that leaked, the cardboard "seal" under the cap had turned to mush. So, even if the bottles arrived OK, as soon as you break the plastic/aluminium factory seal, the cap seals will turn to mush and you won't be able to seal the bottles. Why not use a plastic or rubber seal?
Cons: New bottles already leak, Seals are cardboard

BOTTLES ALWAYS LEAK
Date: January 3, 2009
the product inside is great, in terms of weight and protection you cant get a better system
however
the containers always leak, every single one i have used has leaked, and when they leak they bleach whatever fabric they come into contact with. Once you open the container the seals on the 120ml bottles get saturated and wick out the liquid. I would recommend transferring the goods into some leak proof little nalgene containers. You will also need a medicine dropper when using the 120 ml bottles.
I have tried contacting pristine and encouraging them to to switch their bottles to no avail
Pros: Virus protection, Good filtration, Lightweight

Care with Crypto
Date: August 12, 2007
I have used this product from the backwoods of northern Ontario to the jungles of Panama (and drinking water in rural Meixco) with good luck. I was always under the impression that it protected against Cryptosporidium oocysts, but this might not be the case based on some new research. I would still use this product, unless I knew I was going to be drinking truly suspect water in which case I would use the Katadyn - Micropur MP 1 Tablets.
