Solid for Kid's school bags
Date: November 1, 2009
Bought (2) of these for my boys, ages 4 and 7. They are both tall kids. The fit for the 7 year old is good, although the waist straps are too long (easy to cut down though). The fit for the 4 year old is less than ideal, but he is still able to use this pack on a daily basis. Would give these 10 stars if possible for the value.
Pros: Lightweight, Simple, Good Value

we've given away about 100 or so in and around Tijuana mexico to school aged kids - often, parents pull their kids from school as they cannot afford tuition...it is fantastic to be working on houses on a hillside and see kids bopping off to school with their new backpack. i'm a founding member of Cameras With a Conscience, and this bag is one we raise money for to give away...oh, and I'm thinking of picking up a few as day packs for myself and my family.

Can't go wrong for $12!
Date: September 14, 2009
My 7 yr old daughter has been using this pack for school for almost 3 yrs. It is still in excellent shape! The straps fit her well, and don't slide off her shoulders.
This pack is quite basic, as it only has one front pocket and no side pockets for water bottles etc. However, the main compartment is a good size. My daughter could fit her lunch bag in there, and her agenda. However, now that she is needing more room (shoes, books, lunchbag etc), the space isn't sufficient. This bag has served her well over the years, and is still in great condition to pass along to the other kids!
For $12, you can't go wrong. This bag has many uses and the quality is excellent!
Pros: Lightweight, Simple, Good Value
Cons: limited space

lightweight backpack
Date: August 28, 2009
I like the bag, it is lightweight, and holds a lot. The price was great. It does not have any padding which makes it easy to fold up, although sometimes when carrying certain items like my u shape bicycle lock or certain groceries, a little padding would be good, maybe a removeable layer of padding would improve this product, which you could use when required.
Pros: Lightweight, Simple, Good Value, Reliable, Compact
Cons: no removeable padding

This bag is great for throwing stuff in quickly. Fits a surprising amount for a smaller size. Not too big, easy to handle. Perfect for a bike ride.

Best bag ever!
Date: July 16, 2009
I love this bag! It is great as an everyday bag. Perfect for groceries, day trips, packing in a larger bag when travelling, etc! This bag really is good for almost anything.
It keeps stuff dry when it rains (as long as it's not a down pour).
I love that it only has 2 pockets (no wasting space on useless pockets).
The waist strap is kinda bad though...
Pros: Lightweight, Simple, Good Value, Reliable

Love it!
Date: May 12, 2009
The best school investement for our children. It can take the abuse of daily use, cleans up well & holds everything a child needs, even for field trips & weekend/overnighters. As a teacher, I recommend it as well, as many backpacks are far too large for small children & typically do not have the longevity of a MEC bag (and for a lot less $$ than a bag with characters/logos on it!).
Pros: Easy To Load, Good Padding, Comfortable

Best bag ever
Date: April 19, 2009
This is by far the best backpack I've ever used. It's been all around the world with me, been stuffed full of groceries, kept my things (relatively) dry in Amazon rainstorms, survived tumbles on ski hills, and still survives to carry my books and laptop to school every day. I've had it for 6 years and it has vastly outlasted many more expensive bags I've used before - after all this time the waterproofing is still fine and not a seam or zipper has broken, even though I overpack it practically every day. It weighs nothing and holds an immense amount. It doesn't have too many pockets to search through, it has lots of little loops to hang waterbottles and other things off of. It is perfect. I love it.
Pros: Large Capacity, Lightweight, Highly Adjustable, Comfortable, Easy To Load

Best Backpack Ever!
Date: March 30, 2009
I swear this bag defies the laws of physics - It looks super tiny and yet I can fit at least three textbooks and my laptop in it. It is really comfortable to wear and as it has a waist strap, no load is too heavy. I've had mine for about 3 years and its shows no signs of wear and tear despite daily use and abuse. Oh yah - and its ONLY [$]
Pros: Large Capacity, Lightweight

The perfect small size bag
Date: March 6, 2009
I bought this pack for my 4 year old. He loves it and uses it for school, and for daytime adventuring. I have borrowed it on occasion and love that the straps can be adjusted from the perfect size for a very small child, to the right size for a grownup. It is small, can roll up to fit into another bag quite easily, and is lightweight which makes it perfect size for a day when you are not needing to carry much, or for a small child to feel grown up and helpful by carrying some of their own gear.
Pros: Lightweight, Easy To Load, Highly Adjustable, Comfortable, Simple

one of my best MEC daypack
Date: January 12, 2009
I've had this daypack for about 4 years now. It was great when I was in school and only had 1-2 classes on campus. I've used it on day trips around the city, hiking trips, and I've also taken it on a couple of trips. The pack was also VERY water resistant especially during an excursion in the Dominican where we were caught in a torrential downpour for the entire day. Kept everything inside nice and dry! For such a smaller pack, I could also fit a lot of stuff in it! Great all-around versatile pack!
